Leverage House Bill 7 and other legislative initiatives to reduce costs

Simplifying HB 7

Ohio higher education facilities using state-funding for building construction must adhere to certain sustainability requirements as set forth under Ohio House Bill 7. Adhering to HB 7, these projects must:

	• Achieve at least one of the following building standards:
	- LEED rating of silver level or higher from the USGBC
	- Two green globes or higher from the Green Globes system
	- Meet an equivalent standard as determined by ODAS
	• Achieve at least one of the following energy efficiency standards:
	- Exceed by at least 30% the most current energy efficient standards developed by ASHRAE
	- Achieve a national energy performance rating at or above 77 using the Energy Star system

These state-funded building projects are also encouraged to use Ohio products and materials as stated in a "Buy Ohio" provision.
