Chillicothe Correctional
Chillicothe, OHEnergy Conservation Program
BG partnered with one of the state’s largest correctional institutions to implement a comprehensive energy conservation program across a 760,000-square-foot campus, housing more than 2,700 inmates. The project modernized critical infrastructure through steam system optimization, HVAC upgrades, LED lighting retrofits, domestic hot water improvements, and advanced water treatment solutions; designed to reduce both energy and operational costs. By converting key systems from steam to natural gas and improving boiler efficiency, the facility achieved a 20% reduction in overall energy usage while creating opportunities for easier long-term maintenance. Additional upgrades to lighting, condensate return systems, and water treatment further enhanced efficiency and reliability throughout the campus. Completed over 21 months, the project generated nearly $7.9 million in guaranteed energy savings, demonstrating how strategic infrastructure investments can improve performance, lower utility costs, and support operational resilience in complex, high-demand facilities.
