London/Madison Correctional
London, OHGuaranteed Energy Savings Project
BG partnered with London and Madison correctional institutions to deliver a large-scale energy conservation program across more than 1.3 million square feet of minimum- and medium-security facilities. Through performance contracting, the project combined campus-wide infrastructure improvements with site-specific energy solutions designed to reduce operating costs, improve reliability, and modernize critical systems. Upgrades included nearly 14,000 interior and exterior LED lighting retrofits, HVAC and controls enhancements, water conservation measures, and the installation of renewable solar thermal systems to support domestic hot water and food service operations. Additional improvements to air handling units, boilers, and pumping systems enhanced efficiency and optimized building performance across both campuses. Completed over 29 months, the project generated more than $8.4 million in guaranteed energy savings while supporting the operational demands of facilities housing approximately 4,500 inmates. The result is a more sustainable, efficient, and resilient correctional environment built for long-term performance.
