Wilkes-Barre Area School District
Luzerne County, PAEnergy Performance Agreement
BG partnered with Wilkes-Barre Area School District on a multi-phase energy performance project designed to modernize aging infrastructure, improve efficiency, and reduce long-term operating costs across multiple schools. The initial phase focused on two (2) facilities, including GAR Middle School and Kistler Elementary, where upgrades included high-efficiency boiler replacements, new air handling units, hydronic piping replacement, LED lighting retrofits, and ceiling system improvements. Despite the challenges of working within an occupied historic structure, the project team completed extensive renovations across 180,000 square feet (total) on an accelerated schedule. The improvements enhanced building performance, reduced water and energy waste, and created more comfortable learning environments for students and staff. With nearly $20 million in guaranteed energy savings over 18 years, the success of Phase I led the District to move forward with additional project phases at two more schools.
