City of Strongsville
Strongsville, OHEnergy Conservation
Brewer-Garrett (BG) was selected to complete energy efficiency and facility improvement upgrades at eight (8) City of Strongsville facilities, building on its prior experience providing preventive maintenance services for the City. The project aimed to reduce energy consumption and operating costs while improving occupant comfort across municipal facilities.
At the recreation center, BG replaced heaters for the spa, lap, and activity pools, including associated plumbing, gas piping, flue systems, and controls. BG also upgraded the ultraviolet pool treatment systems to a hydroxyl-based Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP), improving water quality while minimizing reliance on toxic chemicals. Lighting audits and retrofits converted outdated fixtures to LED technology across City-owned streetlights and buildings. At the service center, BG replaced the existing hot deck/cold deck HVAC system with a multi-zone variable air volume (VAV) system, incorporating a new rooftop unit, five VAVs, and hot water piping. An open BACnet controls system enabled equipment monitoring and integration with the City’s web-enabled controls platform.
