Toledo, OHDesign-Build and Energy Improvements
The City of Toledo partnered with BG on a series of projects to modernize its municipal courthouse while maintaining continuous daily operations. Initial design-build improvements included HVAC upgrades, roof and building envelope replacement, new windows and doors, elevator and escalator modernization, LED lighting, accessibility enhancements, and electrical infrastructure upgrades. Through disciplined project management and creative cost-saving strategies, BG generated $2.4 million in bid-day savings, allowing the City to expand the scope with a new central heating boiler and hot-water distribution system.
Building on that work, BG continued to enhance the courthouse through additional infrastructure, security, entryway, emergency power, and building system improvements. Energy-focused upgrades, including high-efficiency HVAC equipment, advanced air handling systems, lighting retrofits, and controls improvements, further reduced operating costs and improved occupant comfort. Together, these projects transformed the occupied courthouse into a safer, more resilient, efficient, and future-ready civic facility.
